I've shared my thoughts on the Fourth of July in the past, but I had a new thought this year:
If you are going to be in one of those big city Pops/Orchestras, I hope you don't like fireworks.
They never get to see them. Whenever I've seen them play they are always facing away from the fireworks display. And even when the fireworks are off to the side, these poor people have to share their view between their music and the conductor (who gets to face the fireworks). Not you, musicians: No fireworks for you.
Thanks for making that sacrifice. We owe you one!
